300110 MPKJ to Anvil Golf Club, Jalan Sg. Buah

"7:30 am sharp yah Azman", 7:45 am we're movin...said Shariman of MPKJ.
Well, oh, ah...ummm.
K9 barking & left the pod at 6:50 am with Arief, Amin & Zharin.
Some pep talk from Ybhg. Dato' Hasan Nawawi & we shot-off with the blaring siren sounds MPKJ's patrol bike. All the other motorized vehicles had to stop & let the conventional bike to pass. Dato' with Aswad & Khalib lead the pack of 50 odd cyclists & crossed the Kajang town to the awe of everyone.
Brought my eldest kid, Arief along as it's a controlled ride. Not much of a danger unless you don't follow the rules. This taller than his dad dude was ever cool.
Enjoy the ride boy, as this is not a race. How would it feel to have an entourage of wheelers zooming past towns & housing estates escorted? Fantastic is the word!
We then stopped by MOSTI-Nuklear Malaysia for a breather & continued towards Jalan Dengkil & made a left turn onto Jalan Sg. Buah. I like this road, the lush greenery & kampong atmosphere eludes a stress-free feeling as you enter this enclave. It's like a lost city where everything seems slow. So? We slowed down our rapid pace & sucked up the air.
There is a tiny climb & as you roll down the slope, Sg. Buah is a nested between or sort of behind Bukit Unggul Golf Club. Same entrance but take the extreme left after the junction. Very peaceful & there's also some Orang Asli villages dotted around it. A great place for a home stay.

By the time we reached Anvil Golf Club, a light snack of sandwiches, kuih & drinks were served. Then comes the round of PPCC - "Poco-Poco Dangdut Dance". The crowd was in stitches as the group danced the mornin away. PPCC is jus not my thing. I would always land on the wrong foot.
Breakdance/Trance Disco-Aerobics gets me into the groove. That’s my thingy.

The loop in Anvil was not without its trills & spills. One - It's sure damn steep. Two - It's sure damn hot. Three - But the view from the top was not short of spectacular. It was awesome!

Md. Nor Balung Ayam not balun ayam

That was the challenge, getting right to the top of the TNB substation gate.

Shariman puffin' & we ain't laughin'

Some just sat under the tree & let the afternoon humid breeze slap their faces.

Kak, r u goin to the market?

One loop was enough for me as we need to ride back to Bandar Baru Bangi. The rest would later hop on a lorry home with an air-conditioned bus and all...Weh, mana aci...

After a well deserved lunch (I was actually too bloated after the snack), we took-off. Special thanks to En. Shariman from MPKJ for the hospitality, heart warming reception & invitation.

160809 The 4,547km ride - A Malaysian Record

ETD - 7:30 PM MPKJ, Kajang
ETA - 8:00 PM UKM Stadium

Cyclists end 4,547km tour after riding into record books.
After a month of arduous cross country cycling, duo Abdul Khalib Zakaria and Mohd Aswad Zainal finally completed their tour. Both men will earn a name in the Malaysian Book of Records for having successfully cycled across the country in a month, traversing across Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, Brunei and finally Sabah.

Under the auspices of the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj), they underwent four years’ worth of intensive training from the patron of the project, Dato Hasan Nawawi, who himself was a globe trotter, before setting off on the challenge last Feb 14. * In 2001, Datuk Hasan Nawawi Abd Rahman, covered 26,565 km in 389 days during his cycling expedition around the world.

Their achievement erases the 2,709 kilometre record set by Abu Samad Hj .Yusuf, who had not included Brunei in his cycling tour. Completing the tour will be a morale booster for Abdul Khalib and Mohd Aswad to attempt a similar record cycling around China this May & the globe God willing, in 2010. This record-breaking project is part of our efforts as well to strike interest in cycling.

The greatest challenges for the cyclists was travelling across the interior parts of Sarawak which involved rough terrain, logging roads, gravel roads and steep mountain routes. Their best experience was sleeping in the forest area of Kalabakan, Sabah, as there were no small towns along the Kalabakan-Keningau gravel road. Sharing a tent & meagre rations with a group of labourers was a humbling experience which money can't buy.

Abdul Khalib, 38, is a commando with the Yankee Squadron in the Malaysian Royal Armed Forces and resides at Kg Bukit Buluh in Serdang, Kedah. He participated in the Ironman Langkawi challenge for four consecutive years (2000-2003) and became the Armed Forces’ cyclist from 2004 to 2006. His best achievement was claiming first place in the Malaysian category of the ironman challenge.

Mohd Aswad, 21, who hails from Kg Talang Dusun in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, takes up cycling, mount climbing and kayaking as hobbies. His series of experience included participating in the Tour of Southern Thailand 2003, Tour of Southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia 2004, Tour of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and China 2005 as well as tours of Perak-Kelantan, Ipoh-Phuket and Ipoh-Betong (2004).

We arrived with a rousing welcome by the students at gates of UKM stadium. The group were lead by this duo & Datuk Hasan Nawawi then lapped the stadium 5 times with a group of UKM students from Ibu Zain College to the delight of the spectators. CIOCC's Clan as always are very excited to be associated with them. Hopefully they will invite us for FREE & use the experience they have gained to take on a more challenging journey around the world in the future.

Soon, they will be attempting to cycle the world within 240 days, in an attempt to break the current record of 267 days. Good luck guys!

140209 Break the record guys...

ATM Sg. Udang Triathletes

I was on a "high" last nite, today is no better. Popped a Paracetamol & Loratadine. Hopefully the the nose will stop running & my feet will start spinning smoother.

The 5km warm up ride to Kajang seem to "Shake the disease", temporarily I think. Hopefully the drug will last the journey. The Scott made heads turn or probably the rider with the bling-bling wheelset & one suit jersey. Oh, someone from Sg Udang, Melaka was spotting the same attire. No wonder the stare.

8:15 am, Sham Dewa, Acap, http://panahsakti-archery.blogspot.com/ & Gang, TeziBianchi, Md Noor Balung Ayam, Zharin, Hadi & Son, Azli Langat, Wari & Enche Bon. If we can't join them we'll take a shot with them the record breakers. Aswad & Khalid...
Don't be fooled by this fella's smile, The "bouncer" looking Khalid is a real life commando.
Khalid's background will come in handy when the times gets "tough" or "rough" if I may put it. Cycling rough the globe if no laughing matter. You may have the brawn but without the "brain" or so called mental power, you're goners for sure.

Kayuh 8km lepas Gap-Frazer's Hill pun terkial-kial for some...

My assumption was right. The stifling Sol's heat was baking my brain....the higher than desirable temperature had a bad effect on me later. "Your buccae looked like a "Tranny" overdone by a Max Factor blusher" said Sham Dewa. Referring to my over reddish "buccae" (Latin: cheeks). Um, come Monday the working day, I was totally zonked & woozy...
