260409 LEKAS Highway - Mantin - Bukit Puyuh - Lenggeng - Bukit Mandum (Mampos!)

Da Route, sorry it doesn't exist in Google yet.

We will "Ride da wind" on LEKAS to Mantin. 15 km of runaway fit for a mambo-jumbo jet. Old story here.
After the 10 min breather at the Mantin toll booth, we will take off to Bukit Puyoh & stop for a photo op. The 2km of LTDL - Puyoh Hill is peanuts lah. Wait till we approach Bukit Mandum...

If we climb the arduous Mandum Hill, if lah...we will then reverse back to Lenggeng for the famous nasi kukus. The route back to Bangi will be shorter (Goodness). Total ride 75++km.

Click here for the route to Unikeb UKM.

190409 Cranking Hard & Furious

7:50am & not a soul. 8 sharp we 4 fellas might as well go on. By the laksa stall Teras Jernang, Zanudin popped! Long time no see...mana pigi? Apparently 3 of his guys left him wondering alone. Nevah mind bro, join us lah. Right after the turn from Bangi Lama road exiting Dengkil interchange, we could see 3 guys grinning wide, Wak Jali, Rahman & Najib.

Started the ride with a steady note, telling myself that I'm gonna go hi-gear today. I switched to the 53-15 chainring. pressed 30-35 at the long stretch passing by Bukit Unggul Golf Club till the Jenderam junction. Felt really good, so..? Hantamlah...

No doubt it's a slight incline to Jenderam Ulu but what the heck, the momentum was excellent...hmmm...30s here we go again. Not until we passed UniKL that we dropped to a steady 25s. 2km till the peak of Salak Tinggi hill, from the 25s, I got hold of Acap & Hafiz Gecko Man & clung onto them to a freakin' 29.8 till the top.

Wak Jali glued to my back all the way followed by Najib (with his new Scott) & the rest of the clan. Wak Jali - at 51, you're one hellova otai!

Man CIOCC, Hafiz Cicak Man, Acap Boy, Sham Dewa,
Wak Jali, Zanudin, Najib, Rahman, Man CIOCC

Made a U-turn & raced with Sham Dewa back up the hill but this time the incline is damn short, sassy & sharp. The fastest ever climb in the history for Man CIOCC. Look at the vid. Sham tried hard & 5 inches of tongue wagged, Bravo!

The 2 under-aged pitted amongst one another, as always trying to beat the other. Don't you bother, raising his hand like a record holder, Acap is one boy wonder!

On the return leg, we came across Md Nor Red Chicken Comb...rolling along - alone. "I'm going to Bagan Lalang..." Oh yeah? Oh no! Got a sms from him later in the evening that says "...could only manage till Salak too, on the way back, it was hot as hell-fire, the bus stop became my temporary shelter..."

We wonder what happened to the rest of the gang, Zanudin, Wak, Rahman & Najib. Heard they did a reverse of the Labu route & came back half dead...

Me cranked hard too much - me right calf quivering.

Muscle cramps - Forgot to take apple vinegar
Muscle cramps - Cranking too hard & furious
Muscle cramps - Legs not strong
Muscle cramps - Not enough training lah...

120409 MANDOM in bukit MANDUM

Salam & welcome to both of you, Zano & Kafi to our cycling clan.
It was a race to Lenggeng. We thought it was problem free until Sharul got a leak - not letting out pee but punctured his tyre 10km from the start. Oh brother, that's the last thing we need. Last week's ride we had to give first aid too the shoe sole & arm sling two bluddy tubes. We were all sweaty & raving to go. Nevah mind. Right aftah Nottingham Broga, the likes of Wari, Ayie Boy, Kafi disappeared like a tailless cockroach. Followed suit & Sham Dewa, Zharin, Sharul, Suhaimi PPZ got left behind.

Somehow Fahmi took a wrong straight & had to backtrack to the Mandum road. His tale here. My mistake - I admit, forgot to wait at junctions as we usually do. The climb up was a bit of a torture. Sped too much earlier - serves me right for following the disco boys.

Whoa! Met Azhar & his Perutkuboroi brother. "We're doin the Kuala Kelawang route today.., come lah join both of us" said Azhar coyly. Aiyo! Gilakah! "...jumlah semua 120km. Lutut rasa macam nak tercabut, longgar abiss... Bukit tinggi abis, pertama tolak (Bkt. Lenggeng) ke2, lulus kayuh sampai top(Bukit Klawang) 6km ade kot... pastu tak ingat dah kebanyakkan bukit tinggi aku tolak pasai lutut aku sakit, krem & macam nak jem..." excerpts from Perutkuboroi's blog.

Yo bro, you're threadin on a thin line man...xtremely dangerous. You don't ride for 6 months & you cycle a straight 120km of dragon back? Gotta be safe than sorry, I'm not gonna risk my life & limb.

"Mandom" means "lembik/lemah/tidak berdaya" = Feeble/Weak.
"Awat hang mandom sangat naik Bukit Mandum ha?" Say it with the typical Nothern slang/lingo for kicks. Translation = Why are you so feeble climbing up Bukit Mandum?

If you're weak "Man", you're heading for the "Doom".

Arrival of the famous Red Chicken Comb, En. Md Nor

Me, Sharul, Wari, Zharin, Ayie Boy, Fahmi, Suhaimi PPZ, Kafi, Sham Dewa, Rahimi

Why, why, why go through the trouble & get slaughtered by the hill? There's nothing to prove eh? Some 30-40-50 something got nothing else to do eh? Better hibernate in the warm bed & stiff up your member? Why are you lacking in moral strength or willpower; yielding easily to temptation, the influence of others, lacking in mental power, or in the ability to think, judge, decide, etc.

C'mon brothers, I'm not here to give you lectures. I'm no private physician of yours. Nothing comes free. My 2 sen worth or probably not even a sen worth. I cry within seeing you people waste, torture & sell your soul to d'devil.

Why throw out a gargantuan whale of a dough out the window, behave insanely & consume the forbidden fruit?

Be real friends. Life is short. I might not see you tomorrow...

050409 - Of John Labu & Terrapin Soup

"Oreng-oreng basikal suke makan soup labi-labi. Itu soup labi-labi bikin kuat oreng-oreng punya muscle kaki, how dare he koyak my gambar! Make me shame shame. He drop my water face... Hahaha... I'm going to the hell of the heaven, warghahaha....No jalan no road no basikal" Dr. John Jabu.

Sup Labi-Labi / Terrapin Soup, Slyurrrrrp...

No, no, not that P. Ramlee's Labu & Labi, if you're thinking about that vege "Labu" you're wrong. I don't even have the terrapin recipes but people say it's so juicy. We're talking about the small town - LABU.

Fahmi, Sham Dewa, Rahimi, Zharin, Syarul, Aini, Zul,
Man CIOCC, Wari, Rizal, Ayie Boy, Amir & Azizan Fixie

Oh, suddenly I'm feelin horny & stiff on the bike...

Amir, welcome to the fold. Look at his cool ol' skool Campy.

Blame it on the traffic, blame it on the "Remembering the Dead Day". "Qing Ming/Cheng Beng" how ever you put it. For the Chinese, it is a day to remember and honor one's ancestors at grave sites. Too many cars on da road friend said Don Hider, "I'm going to Genting Sempah/Janda Baik". Zack caught-up with the original PCC members - Admiral Alaudin, Wendy, Uncle Bo, Hjh. Alia in Perez instead. Last 2 years we got caught in the traffic in jalan Sg. Lalang en route to Tekala. There's one huge cemetery there. On the way back the torrential thunderstorm created havoc in the skies & on tar. Of course we got drenched to the bone. The usual half an hour ride back to Semenyih took us an extra hour negotiation thru the snarling traffic. Thanks Don Haider for the warning. Sorry Zack Graphic, for waiting for us at the Perez Peak.

Never the less, the ride thru Nilai, Labu, LBJ (Labu Johnson - Lots of millionaires) was a success with a couple of mishaps. I dunno how the hell they got this Johnson fellow involved. 55 km later we stopped at ye ol' Salak town.

First & foremost, right after the Nilai town traffic lights, Zharin's Sidi gave way. Sole like a hungry crocodile, laughing wide open. Lucky for us, Azizan Fixie tagged along on his Japanese cub. With a bag full of trinkets, like a mini hardware store out came a muskin tape. We wrapped the shoe like a mummy minus the salt plus mantra & presto! 80km down the road, it could last another century & wake up hereafter in never-never land.
We were rolling at a cool speed when...Puft! Zul was limping from side to side like a drunk toddy sampler. Phut-phut, leak? He was cursing his head off, never seen him do that. 10 km ahead he sprung another leak. This time Sham Dewa took charge. Like I said earlier, remove the tyre & check for any thorns, splinter , broken bones or whatever. Talk of the devil/"Mulut masin", there's a tiny wire got lodged in it. "TOLD YOU SO!" 3/4 hour lost. It's gonna get boiling.

By the time we got to Labu, it was frying. After some half naked-tiger show by Sham Dewa we proceeded to Kampung Jimah route & exited to LBJ. Heard some moto-rider beeping from behind me. Ark! Zack Graphix tracked us & caught Sharul Hulk, Rahimi & some other stopping for a refuel. Cool coconut...!

Duh, the dragon back has no mercy. Watched Aini - Great balls of Fire (the only rose between the thorns) spinning, spinning, spinning. You don't seem to tire eh? The stronger ones like Ayie, Fahmi, Wari & Rizal shot-off ahead. Could only catch them going downhill. LBJ junction to the KLIA quarters road, we stopped to regroup. Well, we actually regrouped at every junction friends. We ride distances but we ride for fun too. Mileage is one thing but camaraderie is no 1! No point "Ajakking" people to ride & just because you think you're better then them, you just leave them behind eh? If you think you're damn good, they're other who're better than you. That's the last think I need in our clan & I'm glad we don't have that kind of attitude.

At this spot, here, not elsewhere, Zul bonked. After 2 flatties he was flat as a pancake squashed by the steamroller. Zack brought along some extra bananas & Great Balls of Fire gobbled-up the biggest & longest one available. From there is was literally flat with a slight decline. The rumble in my belly is really gettin hard to ignore.

The regular restaurant in Salak greeted us with exuberance topped with an ear piercing-shrieking karaoke vocals! Thanks to the owner's plump daughter. Sham Dewa licked the mike too. OK bro, you better stop prancing & get cracking. We've got another 25 km or so to go. I heard Md Noor Red Chicken Comb haunts this place with/without his wife's knowledge! Other than that, we're a noisy lot.

Terrapin's blood got into their heads I think...

290309 Barking Fast & Furious

Look at Rizal fly, single speed 50 - 16 no cleats. He sped up Bukit Salak Tinggi like nobody's business. I could only manage a 27 kph. He says he's gotta find the momentum or he's gonna loose the rhythm.

Man CIOCC, Syarul Hulk, Ayie, Zharin & Rizal

5 odd fellows. 3 seniors, 1 middle aged & a minor.

7:45 am not a ghost appeared. Apparently all had some private issues. Kids, 2nd. wife not getting much attention, concubines not getting a fair share, clones not given due recognition...

Out of da blue came the single speedo. With a sense of bravado he sped like a torpedo, what a gung-ho!

Ayie the toy boy lead us whizzing past MINT. Hulk going green from the fresh air. Ain't gonna be like a snail today.

"Like a wild stallion & senses of a hungry lion, we tore the tarmac in a blistering fashion."

Blink of an eye 25km later, Salak really barked out loud.

Half an hour is what we need. Zoomed down Bukit Salak like a soap box car without a brake. Pushing 45kph all the way to the Dengkil/Jenderam junction. No looking back - the last 2 km near Bangi 47kph uphill, we sprinted like no tomorrow! 11 am ++ we're on track.

Thanks Rizal, hope to c u again.

Quote for the day.
"Get thru your rhythm or you gonna loose your momentum!"

220309 LEKAS Highway - Mantin - Bukit Puyuh - Lenggeng - Bukit Mandum (Mampuih!) - Kpg 6 kaki Beranang - Bangi Lamo

I know, I know, I know...no need to rub more salt to the wound. I've been utterly busy like a oligolectic honey bee. Remember the community project I did in Kampung Kudei, Sarawak recently? My big guns are gonna have an audience with the CM tomorrow. Surf the blog page, Help When Needed here.

Since I'm a responsible worker ant, I gotta finish some darn posters (20 of them) & 6 coffee table booklets YESTERDAY! Please visit the latest press release from Eastern Times here .

Here's the cover.

CM of Sarawak & CIMB Bank Executive Director, Tunku Dato' Ahmad Burhanuddin looking at my posters.

While waiting Sharul, we absorbed some Gamma rays from the nuclear reactor to enhance our strength. Got some tips from Dr. David Banner the Incredible Hulk, Xpose the rays to certain parts of our anatomy = Incredible Dick!

We "Rode da wind" on LEKAS to Mantin. 15 km of runaway fit for a jumbo jet. At times hitting a hellish 40++kph lead by Acap ( I heard he has been secretly training with the WP team) It was a first for the rest of the gang, me & Acap scraped this road some months back with the Cycling Addicts. Story here.

After the 10 min breather at the Mantin toll booth, we took off to Bukit Puyoh. Since 7 of the guys never ever rode this route before, it's rightful enough that we stop for a photo op. The 2km of LTDL - Puyoh Hill is peanuts to us. Wait till we approach Bukit Mandum...

me, Sharul, Suhaimi Bezitagt2, Acap, Zharin, Anuar, Suhaimi PPZ, Wari, Sham Dewa

Wheelin down Bukit Puyoh was a breeze, fun negotiating the bends but you better watch out for the occasional gravel & watery sand. One small mistake you'll slip & fall like a "Nangka Busuk" (Smelly Jack fruit).

With d Seremban, KK Kayuh & Tasik Kesuma boys.

To our surprise, there were already 3 groups of cyclists by the bridge in Lenggeng. Seremban, KK Kayuh & Tasik Kesuma riders. We chatted as if we knew one another since feudal times. Suhaimi PPZ was the celebrity, practically almost all of them knew him. I thought Man CIOCC was most famous... 5 min later Md Noor - Red Chicken Comb (Balung Ayam Merah) appeared.

We coaxed Sharul & Sham Dewa to try out the Mandum Hill. Where Sharul raised up both hands to accept defeat, citing a knee injury (really?), Sham Dewa accepted the challenge. He made it one-third of the section. Way too steep for him. The trick is to control your pace, breath & rhythm.

I had it my way, took my time...I wasn't even out of breath. Try cycling up any hill with one hand & the other holding a camera.

About 8 - 9 riders whizzed passed me...go go go brudders...let's see...True enough, after the first incline, smack at the curve, a bunch of grapes lay squashed out of their juices littered by the side of the road. What a pitiful sight. As I passed them I could see signal red, vomit green & bloodless pale faces. 200 metres to go, more began to drop like flies.

Suhaimi PPZ, me, Acap, Md Nor Red Chicken Comb, Zharin, Anuar, Suhaimi Berzitagt2 ("Welcome to the gang") & Wari made it to the top. Acap, Suhaimi Berzitagt2 & Wari did another round! I know Tongkat Ali did the trick...

After the arduous climb up Kpg. Mandum Hill, we reversed back to Lenggeng for the famous nasi kukus & Ikan Semilang Darat (Ikan Keli) stall. To our horror Sham Dewa & Sharul Hulk had cleaned up the whole pot of rice! WTF! (World Taekwondo Federation).

Met Saiful, a local rider with his quadricycle. Guys, look at his training wheels. Such a friendly chap, makes me appreciate life more...how lucky we are.

Da Route, sorry it doesn't exist in Google yet.

Adios ragazzi.
